I LOVED this film. Many layers that you can unpeel the more times you watch it. Hugh Grant was genius and deserves an Oscar, so far out of his wheelhouse yet he pulls it off brilliantly! Charlie Hunnam was great too. My only negative would be the over use of the C word, which doesn't fly well with a N American audience but plainly was overly gratuitous regardless. I personally felt Matthew McConaughey was miscast, however out of all the people I know who watched the film they all disagree with me, so, maybe I'm wrong. Guy Ritchie is a genius, the detail to costume is impeccable too, Fletchers' dark glasses were the perfect detail! 10 out of 10.

This isn't the end yet. It's worth a sequel and there will be.
The story starts with one drug lord selling his empire to another businessman. There is speed in the mood and chaos in the motion with a lot of impeccably strong grip over the plot. I enjoyed every moment of it. Good film, Hugh Grant acting at last and not just playing himself for once. needs an award for this. This is quite a cleverly interwoven crime story. Hugh Grant is surprisingly good in the role of a sort of camp narrator, as he tries his hand at blackmail by regaling an unflappable Charlie Hunnam with his interpretation of the goings-on around the attempted sale of an empire of ill-gotten gains by a really under-rated Matthew McConaughey, to an even more sexually ambiguous American billionaire. It's funny, mischievous and slick. Colin Farrell doesn't feature extensively, but when he does, he is cool and entertaining. There is a surfeit of Anglo-Saxon which I felt was a touch necessary - after a while it stops being a laugh and starts irritating. At times the script is witty and well paced, but for most of the film there is too little action and much too much verbiage. A good watch, though.
